ABOUT GLEN WICKEN

I am Glen Wicken, a skilled professional with a robust background in electrical engineering, product design, training/coaching and technical services. Holding a first-class BSc in Product Design and Innovation from the University of Portsmouth, my expertise lies in the integration of electrical systems with mechanical design. I specialise in electrical engineering and have extensive hands-on experience across a variety of sectors, including education, broadcasting, and electromechanical services. My work spans product development, electrical installations, and system integrations, a competent person for combining electrical engineering with innovative design solutions. I focus on electro/mechanical systems in product design, prototyping, and 3D printing, including E-Bikes, earning me recognition through the IMechE with an award, demonstrating my proficiency in both mechanical design and electrical engineering, creating functional, cutting-edge solutions. Alongside my design work, I have contributed to the development of hand contact sanitising products and industrial hydro cleaning products, underlining my versatility. I hold certification as a JIB 18th edition Gold Card registered electrician, with expertise in electrical installations, service inspections, and testing. My early career roles with Christie Intruder Alarms and Albright Electrical allowed me to refine my skills in fire alarms, CCTV systems, and complex electrical systems, providing a strong technical foundation in electrical maintenance and safety. I have extensive experience as a Motorhome Technician working on electrical systems, LPG gas, and internal motorhome plumbing and heating systems. Servicing air conditioning, battery systems, reversing cameras, and satellite systems. My experience at Southdowns Motorhomes provided a comprehensive understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in vehicles, which enhances my ability to deliver solutions that combine both electrical and mechanical expertise. I am also a certified Cytech Level 2 Cycle Mechanic, specialising in electric bicycles. Additionally, I have supported various instructor training projects within British Cycling and GB Skateboarding, coaching individuals with special needs and mental health challenges. Recently, as a Operations Assistant at BBC Southampton, assisting radio and TV operations providing technical support. With certifications from IED, JIB, and IET, along with ongoing professional development such as first aider, I am ready to bring my electrical expertise and innovative approach to any project.
