ABOUT GLAUCIA MARIA ALMEIDA

I have a Bachelor’s degree (Biomedical Science), a Master’s degree (Biochemistry) and a PhD (Biochemistry) from the Ribeirao Preto Medical School/University of Sao Paulo (FMRP/USP). I have been developing skills in biochemistry, cellular biology, virology and neuroscience. Human and murine brain slice cultures, cell culture, virus propagation, virus titration, cell viability assays, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, Western blot, RNA isolation, and ELISA assay are some of the biological techniques I have used in my projects. In addition to biological techniques, I have developed skills such as project and laboratory management and scientific writing. To align my research career with the business mindset, I was granted with a full-scholarship for pursuing a Master of Business Administration (Digital Business) from Esalq-USP, focusing on ESG practices (Environmental, Social, and Governance). The ambition to combine academic and business mindset started when I was an undergraduate. I was one of the founding members of the Junior Enterprise “Sirius Biotecnologia Jr”. I worked as a Director of Human Development and Strategic Consultant for 2 years and 7 months. During these opportunities, I developed competencies that, together with Academic research, contributed to skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication, organization/planning, and problem-solving.
