About Gabrielle Gaby Keeler-May
I am an interdisciplinary research scientist specializing in coastal ecology, spatial prioritization, and conservation management. My work primarily uses applied methods and an integrated approach to understand the social and ecological dimensions that contribute to sustainable conservation management. Presently, I serve as a Federal Program Officer and Tribal Liaison with NOAA Fisheries managing awards for large-scale competitive funding competitions with a focus on Tribal and indigenous led community-based restoration projects. The projects include capacity-building and implementation of on-the-ground projects for fish passage and transformational habitat restoration.I utilize a suite of analysis tools in my research, such as R coding and GIS. I also teach and mentor university students about our natural environment and the scientific process with a field-based curriculum to enhance learnings and envision real-world solutions.
