ABOUT GARY LATHAM
Gary is the Chief Technology Officer at Bio-Techne. He leads Enterprise R&D, with a focus on amplifying Bio-Techne\'s diverse science, technologies, and product development while helping to build cross-divisional bridges to fuel growth and impact for customers and patients. In his career, he has directed the development of more than 30 life science or molecular diagnostic kits. His accomplishments include the conception and development of Asuragen’s AmplideX® PCR technology for the fragile X gene and other hard-to-amplify-and-genotype disease targets and multiple innovations in next-generation sequencing that were commercialized under the QuantideX® brand. Gary is an author on nearly 50 peer-reviewed publications, and an inventor on 16 issued US patents, and has been awarded >$13M in research grants from NIH and the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). He received a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Vanderbilt University and was an American Cancer Society Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Oregon’s Institute for Molecular Biology. Previously, Gary was a senior scientist and R&D section head for Ambion’s protein engineering and sample prep divisions, where he developed and launched a number of commercially successful enzyme tools, RT-PCR products, and RNA isolation technologies.
