As a key member of Metso’s Pyro processing team, I lead high-impact engineering projects aimed at reducing fuel consumption and cutting carbon emissions across a wide portfolio of rotary kiln systems in the minerals industry- Lead engineer for advanced CFD studies, focused on combustion performance optimisation, kiln retrofits, and emissions reduction. My work supports design and operational improvements across applications such as lime recovery kilns, acid roasters, and titanium dioxide plants- Perform root cause analysis for process bottlenecks and thermal inefficiencies, using CFD insights to develop practical and cost-effective engineering solutions- Responsible for process engineering calculations including mass and energy balances, fan and valve train sizing, burner design, and overall system integration- Deliver hardware design and system specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and process safety requirements, including HAZOP assessments- Lead the preparation of technical reports, proposals, and client presentations, translating complex data into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align mechanical, process, and controls engineering efforts in both FEED and execution phases- Provide strategic input on hydrogen fuel blending, low-NOx design features, and long-term decarbonisation pathways for high-temperature thermal processes.This role has allowed me to merge my combustion expertise with practical engineering to deliver solutions that are technically sound, commercially viable, and sustainability-focused.
