ABOUT GIULIO VITA

I am a structural and wind engineer, passionate about the design of large span structures, including bridges. I have undertaken an academic path in wind engineering to get a superior understanding of wind, being the crucial design limitation for such sensitive structures. I have spent the last 5 years becoming an expert in computational wind engineering, and bluff body aerodynamics, and gained familiarity with bridge aerodynamics and aeroelasticity, and a solid technical background on structural design. As an ambitious and curious engineer, I am committed to turning my usual activities into well recognized achievements. My track record reflects this, with my extracurricular activities as representative for the Young Leaders group of the UK Wind Engineering Society, and my involvement with other academic associations (MSCA, CFD-SIG). I have obtained international recognition as a top researcher thanks to my work on ‘Urban Flows’, ‘Pedestrian Wind Safety’ and ‘Building Aerodynamics’. I have professional experience in structural engineering, as a Graduate and Assistant Engineer (prior to PhD), and as an expert consultant in wind engineering (train and building aerodynamics, wind effects on existing structures). Thanks to the continued teaching activity in structural engineering modules, I am familiar with the structural design of concrete/composite/steel/masonry structures, and FE modelling. My profile is also suitable for the supervision and management of a team of professionals with different expertise/experience, as my publication record shows. I believe a person with my profile, willing to further learn about bridge design and site management, would be a strong asset for the bridge team and raise its profile, being able to provide and tune my expertise towards the attraction of new specialised work in bridge aerodynamics.
