I teach the History of Photography and Photography techniques to a class of about sixty students.The lessons are a hybrid of students attending in class and others on long-distance learning.The latter are students from different locations in Italy, but also from abroad.My classes are four hours long, one day per week, and the duration of the entire course is a semester, at the end of which, students will have to pass an exam consisting of the creation, elaboration, organization, and production of a photography project, made of ten photos.The project, which theme is chosen on the student\'s individual choice, will have to be presented through a compelling written synopsis. This written part will have to describe the content and messages of the work submitted as well as the technique and the style used to convey those content and messages in the most impactful way possible.

ABOUT GIULIO DERCOLE
In September 2022, I moved to Tody, a small but truly beautiful and peaceful Medieval village in Umbria. I moved from my hometown Rome, where, in 2018, I founded Rome Photo Fun Tours, a company specializing in photography tours and workshops for beginners, amateurs, and professionals from all over the world. Though my workshops are not limited to teaching photography, they are also opportunities for cultural exchange, storytelling sessions, and life experience sharing. Even though I moved out of Rome, on November 2022, I started teaching Photography at Istituto Pantheon, Technology and Design, a Private University based in downtown Rome. This teaching activity sides my private professional business which focuses on providing photo tours and workshops in Rome, Umbria, Tuscany, and Apulia. In 2024 this activity will extend to other regions of Italy, as well as to several countries in Africa, where I lived and worked for twelve years. Thanks to the vast background acquired in thirty years of an international career in media and communication, I have developed a strong ability in human relations and PR. As I profoundly believe that accurate communication is essential to fight poverty, protect human rights and trigger positive behavioral change, I am also convinced that a friendly, open, and empathic relationship is the best way to relate with others. Rome Photo Fun Tours is, in fact, a late “development” (still evolving and not excluding my humanitarian work) of my previous career: In 1988, I started working as a TV producer at TeleMonteCarlo (today La7). In 1997 I moved to New York and worked as a senior Producer for RAI Corporation. In 2003 I moved to Kenya where I worked for the European Commission, several Embassies, UN Agencies, and INGOs as a Media and Communication Consultant, Photographer, and documentary maker. As Manager Director of my Kenya-based company Canvas Africa Productions, I contributed to Communication for Development campaigns with awareness, fundraising, advocacy, and visibility components. In 2014 I returned to Rome where I continued working as a freelance communication expert for various NGOs. With my work I contributed to- Increase the organizations’ impact through strategically conceived and produced content - Distribute such content through traditional and digital media - Reinforce relationships with partners and media outlets - Conceive innovative communication strategies with advocacy elements I am a results-oriented, proactive team player focused on effective ways to achieve the tasks given.
