ABOUT GIULIANA FIORENTINO

Giuliana Fiorentino has a sociolinguistic and linguistic training that goes back to her Master of Arts Degree (University of Naples ), and to her PhD in Linguistics (University of Roma Tre). Her main interests are Italian syntax - also in comparison with the Romance languages (especially with reference to French and Spanish)- and sociolinguistics applied to the language of the web. She published several scientific works of considerable value, both in Italy and abroad and she took part into several national and international conferences. Among her books there is a monograph on relative clauses and a monograph on writing on the web (2013) as well as several articles and papers on computer – mediated communication and on web writing (between 2002 and 2013). She was editor of several important monographs published in prestigious venues (Mouton de Gruyter, Journal of Italian Linguistics ). Her main interests range from the textual syntax with special reference to the variability between written and spoken language. These interests have led Prof. Fiorentino to original and significant results with respect to some specific issues. She has also proved a remarkable ability in dealing with the empirical data and in basing them on a considerable theoretical awareness.
