He says, “yes it’s true that you might be a bit particular about some things but that’s a good thing.”“Why? How so?” I ask, feeling frail and worn down and trying to keep hope that there’s a way out of the rabbit hole I found myself in. For my kid’s sake and my promise during my dark-night-of-the-soul time to find the strength and the courage to help others brighten their lights. “Let me put it this way,” he says, “if you were the general contractor on a job site, the owner would be very happy with you that you were making him money and that the work is getting done on time, and properly. The people slacking off on-the-job might not be too happy with you. That doesn’t mean something is wrong with you. When you know how to get a job done, I set a goal, I must see it through – no matter whatI could say that I’m good at overcoming obstacles, and this would be true. There have been many obstacles that have presented themselves to keep me away from stepping fully into my purpose to help others fulfill theirs. I soldier on.But I’m mindful of the power of language. Focusing on overcoming obstacles means that first, the obstacles have to present themselves. Only then, after “overcoming” can you achieve your goal.However, changing the way you think about the “problem,” shifting toward thinking about preferred circumstances presenting themselves, well then, that seems more efficient.
