   Current - Leading a group of teams responsible for delivering enterprise features and innovations in Azure PostgreSQL.Prior to 2023 - 11 years as a technical leader in the SQL Server RDBMS Engineering team. Core member helping build Azure SQL DB, a large scale distributed relational database platform as a service, from inception to now hosting 10+ million databases. Responsible for delivering 99.995% monthly Availability for 99.9% of our customer databases; Led multiple teams with areas of ownership spanning the storage engine (write ahead logging and recovery, storage management, access methods, versioning, transactions, locking and isolation semantics, row\\column\\inmemory stores, distributed transactions), high availability (physical log replication, quorum commit based systems, large scale clustering), geographical disaster recovery, and more.Recent work - Optimized Locking for improved concurrency, reduced lock memory usage, reduced deadlocks; Constant Time Database Recovery (aka Accelerated database recovery), a re-architecture of transaction rollback and recovery in SQL Server that enables crash recovery to finish instantly; Availability Zones for SQL DB providing zonal resiliency for the service; GeoDR for SQL DB; Prior work - Developed Enterprise features in SQL Server such as AlwaysOn Distributed Availability Groups, Direct Replica Seeding, Parallel Redo of transaction log, AlwaysOn Synchronous log replication performance improvements, Azure XStore integration and more, all of which enables advanced capabilities such as High Availability, GeoDR, Online migrations of databases across data centers and platforms, unlimited Read Scale and others.
