ABOUT GIOVANNI LORENZIN

I’m a physician and clinical microbiologist with nearly a decade of experience specializing in antimicrobial resistance, microbial genomics, next-generation sequencing (NGS), and translational microbiology. Recognized for directing provincial AMR surveillance, implementing cutting-edge sequencing diagnostics, and leading cross-border research collaborations, I bring a unique blend of clinical authority, research innovation, and leadership to every role.My professional journey has spanned hospital, academic, and international consortium settings. At the Azienda Provinciale per i Servizi Sanitari (APSS) in Trento, I direct the Interdepartmental Sequencing Platform and guide strategies for antimicrobial resistance and infectious disease epidemiology at the provincial level. As an Adjunct Lecturer at the Universities of Trento, Verona, and Pavia, I coordinate teaching programs, mentor students, and integrate real-world genomic data into academic curricula.Currently, I serve as Principal Investigator in a collaboration with Institut Pasteur (Paris) and Pázmány Péter Catholic University (Budapest), pioneering genomic language models (gLMs) powered by AI to enhance microbiome engineering, AMR monitoring, and phage–host prediction. This work reflects my commitment to bridging computational and experimental microbiology, translating science into tangible healthcare and industry outcomes. My contributions include multiple peer-reviewed publications, frequent speaking roles at international congresses, and honors such as the Desenzano Young Scientist Award. Beyond science, I’m the author of a forthcoming narrative book on World War II and microbiology, reflecting my passion for interdisciplinary storytelling and communication.Colleagues describe me as a driven, collaborative leader who unites teams across disciplines and borders. I’m seeking opportunities in clinical consultancy, pharma/biotech leadership, and international research initiatives where I can apply my expertise to advance healthcare innovation.I welcome connections with colleagues, researchers, and industry leaders in microbiology, virology, bioinformatics, and pharmaceutical R&D. Feel free to reach out if you’re interested in collaboration, consulting, or knowledge exchange.
