ABOUT GIOVANNA DELTREGIA MARTINELLI

Currently a Research Fellow at Università IUAV di Venezia, I am passionate about urban planning and deeply committed to addressing the challenges of climate change. My current research focuses on Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) and the Water-Food-Energy Nexus (WEFE Nexus), exploring integrated approaches to sustainability and resource management within the framework of international projects.I hold a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from IUAV, where my research examined food waste in Brazil through the lens of circular economy and public policy. During my master’s, I contributed to research on Antarctica and scientific production at UNA-UNLESS and collaborated on seismic risk analysis for historic cities through IUAV’s GENESIS research project.With a background in Architecture, Urbanism, and Landscape Design from UFSM, I have been actively involved in various extension and community-based projects, including Engineers Without Borders, EMAU Perspectiva, Base Jr, NEDET, and ATHIS/REURB, focusing on social housing and urban requalification. I also completed an academic exchange at Universidad de Congreso (Argentina) and a professional internship at Instituto Técnico de Lisboa as part of the “Biombo, Agir!” project. Additionally, I collaborated with the QUAPÁ Laboratory (USP) and gained professional experience in Neighbourhood Impact Studies at Braido Arquitetura.
