The Senior Director, Strategic Initiatives and Community Relations is a key member of the executive leadership team, supporting the overall organization’s sustainability. The position is responsible for maintaining excellence in all communications and external relations, which support and reinforce the National Aviary’s brand and mission of inspiring respect for nature through an appreciation of birds. The position focuses on the overall success of the National Aviary by growing and strengthening key relationships, maximizing earned and contributed funding, facilitating operational synergies, and creating team efficiencies. The Senior Director, Strategic Initiatives and Community Relations is responsible for developing and implementing key strategies, which support critical operations and require a high degree of leadership, project management and cross-department communication. The position oversees the marketing & communications department and the philanthropy department. This position reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Executive Director to support the National Aviary’s Strategic Plan, Business Plan and Operating Budget.
