ABOUT GINA A.
Policy Researcher | Analyst | Advocate for Racial Equity & Disability JusticeI\'m a dedicated policy researcher, analyst, and advocate with a deep commitment to advancing racial equity and disability justice in public policy. My work centers on creating asset-based policy solutions that eliminate poverty and promote social justice, with a specific focus on communities of color. My current research explores the intersections of income security policies and the criminalization of poverty, particularly in the U.S. Deep South. Through my research, I aim to uncover how policy can either perpetuate or dismantle structural barriers to opportunity, particularly for Black and Indigenous communities, as well as people with disabilities. With a Master’s in Public Policy from Michigan State University and a B.A. in Political Science from North Carolina Central University, I bring both academic rigor and lived experience to my work. I\'m passionate about leveraging mixed-methods data to advocate for equitable policies that not only address immediate needs but also help people and families reach their goals and dreams.
