ABOUT GINA STRUMOLO

My name is Gina Strumolo and I am currently a senior enrolled in the College of Health Sciences at the University of Rhode Island, expected to receive my bachelor\'s degree in Psychology (BA) in May 2026. I have taken forty seven credits in psychology courses while being at college, which has allowed me to learn about several different types of psychology and their practices/goals. I have found so much passion studying psychology, and am extremely excited to see what is entail for me after graduation. I have a great amount of experience in psychology, psychology related fields, and childcare. I have had amazing opportunities that shaped my love and appreciation for psychology. I held an internship at FRIENDS WAY in Warwick, Rhode Island in the Fall of 2024, which allowed me to work closely with children (ages three to eighteen) who have experienced recent death and remained impacted from their traumatic experiences that followed their loss. From this experience, I learned deeply about the stages of grief and what they look like for different ages, and how everyone\'s experience with grief is unique. The summer of 2023 I was a seasonal intern at The Essex County Psychiatric Hospital located in Cedar Grove, New Jersey. I specifically worked in the Rehab department of the hospital, which required me to work closely with the patients (ages eighteen to eighty). I monitored and even participated in different rehab activities with them, such as music therapies, meditation therapies, sports and exercise therapies, and so much more. Working closely with the patients allowed me to apply psychology practices and skills I had learned in college to real life. My experiences have helped me learn more about myself and my interests, and shaped me into who I am today. I am so excited to see what the future hold for me beyond graduation, and experience even more!
