About Gina Sanchez

As a scientist, my goal has been to make science more accessible to varying audiences. I aim to provide accurate, yet digestable, information to audiences with varying backgrounds.I am currently a Medical Writer with Alphabet Health, where I partner with clients across diseases areas to communicate their findings to a wide array of audiences. I completed my PhD in 2023, where I studied Germinal Center B cells and their role in the pathogenesis and exacerbation of lupus. During my PhD, I also worked on the Rutgers iJOBS blog to raise awareness about non-academic career roles for PhDs. In my spare time, I worked on a science writing internship at Soligenix, Inc, where I wrote summaries on new disease areas weekly for the CSO and CMO. This helped me learn how to take in massive amounts of information and turn it around into a digestable article.After my PhD, I was a postdoctoral fellow at NYU, where I examined Germinal Center B cells once more, but in the gut at both steady-state and upon immunological insult. I have mentored 10 junior PhD students and assisted people at varying levels of training (high school students through PIs) on various techniques and equipment specific to my labs. I greatly enjoy mentoring other students as well as educating the general population on my work and its importance.
