About Gina Roccanova

For more than 20 years, I have represented employers (and a few employees) in all aspects of employment and labor law. I know from experience that spending a few hours doing training, updating policies, and getting solid legal advice can save a thousand times that in money, time, and aggravation later on. I\'ve learned over the years that good communication, negotiation, and fairness go a long way in avoiding lawsuits, strikes, and other problems in the workplace. I believe in mediation and settlement when they serve my clients\'​ interests. And when the time comes to fight, I bring persistence, preparation, and communication skills that give my clients the advantage. When advising my clients, I am not the lawyer who simply says,\"You can\'t do that.\" Rather, I work hard to understand my clients, their needs, and their employees - whether they are public agencies, emerging companies, or major corporations - so that I can present a range of alternatives, explain the risks of each approach, and let them make informed decisions according to their business and political realities. In addition to being a seasoned employment litigator, labor negotiator, and advisor, I am a trained mediator and also have experience conducting and overseeing employment investigations. My areas of focus include mediation of litigated and pre-litigation disputes, employment advice and counseling, including wage/hour, termination risk analysis, leaves of absence, reasonable accommodation, harassment, NLRA and related issues; partnering with HR professionals on day-to-day employment issues and training; negotiations.
