WORK HISTORY
Clinical Dietetic Technician @IWK Health
Halifax, NS, CA
My role involved utilizing proper laboratory techniques and aseptic procedures to ensure patient safety and optimize patient care in an acute setting.I also contributed to implementation of various clinical trials including the Lactoferrin Infant Feeding Trial (LIFT), which was a multi-center phase randomized controlled trial of lactoferrin supplementation in reducing mortality of very low birth weight infants, and the FEED1 Study, a randomized controlled trial of full milk feeds versus intravenous fluids with gradual feeding for preterm infants (30-33 weeks gestational age). I assisted in the implementation of various therapeutic diets for pediatric, obstetric, and gynecological inpatients and special patient populations including gestational diabetes, pediatric type one diabetes, ketogenic diets in patients with epilepsy, various inborn errors of metabolism, eating disorders, and those with renal conditions requiring modified nutritional protocols. I also aided in the development of the hospital\'s Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS) protocol for gynecological surgical patients to improve recovery times.
