My core mission is to safeguard digital assets by actively detecting, analysing, and responding to security incidents and events, ensuring cyber threats and breaches are managed with minimal impact. My day to day responsibilities included, but not limited to: • Continuously monitoring SIEM platforms, primarily Splunk and Databrick, for security alerts, anomalies, and potential indicators of compromise (IOCs). • Performing initial analysis and triaging of security events such as malware detection and phishing alerts, distinguishing between false positives and genuine threats with precision and speed. • Leveraging Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools like CrowdStrike for threat hunting, malware analysis, and endpoint forensics during incident investigations. • Utilising SOAR capabilities, with XSOAR and tines, to assist in the automation of repetitive tasks and streamline alert handling, improving efficiency and response times. • Monitoring and responding to cloud-based security threats and anomalies using services like AWS GuardDuty for proactive cloud detection. • Assisting in the development, refinement, and implementation of security playbooks and operational procedures and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. • Continuous learning of common cybersecurity frameworks (e.g, NIST, ISO 27001) and the MITRE ATT & CK framework to understand common observations across the threat landscape. • Participating in on-call rotations as required to ensure 24/7 security coverage.
