ABOUT GILLES SOULEZ

Dr Gilles Soulez MD, MSc, FRCP, FSIR is a full professor of Radiology at University of Montreal (UdeM), vascular and interventional radiologist a the Centre Hospitalier de l’Université (CHUM). He graduated in Radiology in France (1989) and completed a 2-year fellowship with a certification of the French College of Interventional Radiology. He was recruited at University of Montreal in 1992. He completed a MSc in clinical research and epidemiology at UdeM and obtained a clinical researcher scholarship of the Fonds Recherche Santé Quebec ( FRQ-S) from the Junior I to National Scientist award. He is currently appointed as a Professor of Radiology at UdeM at the department of Radiology, Radiation-Oncology and Nuclear Medicine. He is the director of the laboratory of Clinical Imaging processing and the imaging and engineering research pillar at CHUM research center (CRCHUM). He is the past president of the Canadian Association of Radiologists.His research is dedicated to the advancement of vascular and interventional radiology in the field of aortic, peripheral arterial diseases, liver embolization and management of vascular anomalies. He is funded by the Canadian Fund of Innovation, Canadian Institute of Health Research, Natural Science and Engineering Research Council, Fonds de la Recherché en Santé du Québec (FRQ-S) and the Canadian First Research Excellence Fund. He has published 249 peer-reviewed papers (H index 55), 9 patents and is very active in technological transfer with leading companies in this field (Siemens Medical, Cook medical). He was honored by the Award of excellence and Innovation from the Cardiovascular and interventional Radiology Society of Europe (CIRSE 2013), the prize of Innovation (2008) and the prize Bernadette Nogrady (1997) from the Société de Radiologie du Québec, the career award from the Canadian Intervention Radiology Association (2021) and the medal of Honor of the French Society of Radiology (2023).
