I’m Gilbert “Jerome” Romero‑Mewharter — a leader in early childhood mental health, therapeutic learning, and trauma-informed systems. With over 20 years of experience, I work at the intersection of mental health, education, and systems change to help children, families, and professionals thrive.As Director of Therapeutic Early Learning & Capacity Building at Akin (formerly Childhaven), I led efforts to integrate trauma-informed care into early learning environments. I designed therapeutic programs, support staff development, and built sustainable systems that prioritize mental wellness, child development, and family support.My background spans direct service, program leadership, higher education, and private practice. I’ve worked as a mental health consultant, program specialist, regional supervisor, and adjunct instructor.
