About Giles Peek
I am a pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon and ECMOlogist based in Gainesville FL. I undertake the full range of neonatal and pediatric cardiac operations including heart transplantation. I also undertake tracheal surgery in children in conjunction with my ENT colleagues as well as complex mediastinal tumor surgery. My research interest is the use of ECMO to treat patients of all ages with cardiac or respiratory failure. My leisure interests include mountain climbing which has lead to investigation into the use of ECMO to treat environmental hypothermia. I have been an active member of the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization since 1994. I am currently in the process of cataloging every single pediatric cardiac operation and their variations on video as I believe this medium is far superior to a textbook for teaching surgical technique. I am available for consultation, second opinion and lecturing.
