About Gilbert Salloum
I am a biomedical scientist and aspiring venture capitalist passionate about translating cutting-edge research into impactful healthcare innovations. With over a decade of experience in cancer biology and translational therapeutics, I bring deep expertise in functional genomics, CRISPR-based discovery, and oncology drug development.Currently, as a postdoctoral fellow at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School, I leverage genome-wide CRISPR screens and computational analysis to uncover therapeutic vulnerabilities in gynecological cancers. My doctoral research at Albert Einstein College of Medicine focused on the role of lipid kinases in breast cancer metastasis and tumor growth under nutrient stress.Beyond the bench, I have developed strategic and entrepreneurial skills through pro bono consulting and advising biotech startups on market landscapes, indication prioritization, and investment strategy. As a scientific advisor, I have also translated complex biological concepts into actionable insights for boards and executive teams.I am particularly interested in the intersection of science, strategy, and investment—where rigorous evaluation meets bold entrepreneurship. My long-term goal is to contribute to life sciences venture capital, supporting founders who are building the next generation of biotech companies that extend healthspan and transform patient outcomes.
