ABOUT GILBERT BIMPONG
I am an MSc Mining Engineering student at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and a Graduate Research Assistant at the Institute of Northern Engineering where I conduct machine learning–based rock property evaluation research using gas injection experiments, ultrasonic data, and coda wave analysis. I have a strong Geological Engineering background, supported by hands-on industry experience from internships and national service at GoldStone Akrokeri Limited and AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine.My technical skill set includes Excel, Python, Matlab, SQL, and Power BI, as well as mining and geology software such as Maptek Vulcan, Leapfrog Geo and Datamine Studio RM. I am deeply committed to mine safety, innovation, and sustainable practices, with proven strengths in critical thinking, adaptability, and data-driven problem-solving in fast-paced environments.Motivated by continuous learning and real-world impact, I am eager to apply advanced analytics and engineering principles to improve ground control, operational efficiency, and sustainability in modern mining operations.
