ABOUT GILAD ABIRI
I research and teach at the intersection of technology and law, with particular focus on AI regulation, data privacy, and digital governance. As Associate Professor at Peking University School of Transnational Law (Shenzhen) and Co-Director of the Program on Law and Innovation, I work daily on the legal frameworks shaping AI development across jurisdictions. My expertise spans the EU AI Act, GDPR, China\'s Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL), cross-border data transfers, and platform regulation.Current research areas- AI governance and regulatory legitimacy- Comparative data protection (EU-China-US)- Constitutional dimensions of AI systems- Platform regulation and digital marketsI bring a distinctive cross-jurisdictional perspective—trained at Yale Law School (JSD, LLM), now based in China, with research affiliations at Singapore Management University and Yale\'s Information Society Project. This allows me to bridge regulatory conversations that too often happen in silos.Recent publications include work in Stanford Technology Law Review, Yale Journal of Law & Technology, and Georgia Law Review.I regularly advise on AI policy, data privacy compliance, and tech regulation. Available for expert consultations, speaking engagements, advisory roles, and executive education.
