About Gideon Dean

Gideon Dean is the latest addition to the Williamsburg, Virginia broadcasting scene, being the first personality hired for WBQK’s new Country-format station, Cannon Country 107.9. Operated by Local Daily Media, Dean hosts afternoons and serves as the station’s Communications Director. In this role, he manages the station’s social media channels, coordinates details related to station events, and works to elevate the station’s brand and presence within the community. In addition to his full-time position with WBQK, he co-operates the “US Radio Updater” digital brand, which has accumulated a following of over made up of music fans, artists, media outlets, record promotion executives, and radio personalities and programmers. He also is a freelance radio promoter, and founded the Red Dragon Promotions imprint in 2024. Having graduated from SUNY Oneonta’s music industry program in 2024, he completed internships with Country Aircheck, WKLI/Albany, WFRG/Utica, as well as served as both the Program and Communications Director for the university’s campus radio station, the President of the school’s Music Industry Club, and the campus’ GRAMMY U ambassador.
