WAGA Motion is developing Tanzania’s first nationwide electric vehicle charging network. The company builds and operates charging stations across cities and key highways, making it easier for drivers to charge their vehicles both for daily use and long-distance travel.Our work covers the entire process from selecting locations and installing equipment to managing and operating the stations long-term. The goal is to create a reliable infrastructure that supports the growth of electric mobility in Tanzania.My journey began with a simple challenge: the lack of electricity in my community. I started by repurposing discarded laptop batteries into small solar power packs for households without reliable energy. That work grew into WAGA Technologies, which today provides solar and battery solutions to off-grid villages, schools, and health centers.I have been recognized as a United Nations Young Leader for the SDGs (2022), received the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Africa Prize, and was honored as the Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Award Winner (2025). These recognitions reflect my commitment to building practical solutions that improve access to energy and infrastructure.Our mission is straightforward: to make electric mobility practical and accessible across Africa while creating jobs, reducing emissions, and building the foundation for a cleaner transportation future.
