ABOUT GIAN RUSSO

Start Ups and ground floor builds are my expertise. 25+ year mortgage professional with experience in all aspects of the business including originations, wholesale, non delegated, full corespondent flow and bulk, operations and capital markets. What I do is create brand new Divisions for PE firms, VC firms, Ibanks and private owners. My approach starts with the culture. Assimilating into a current corporate culture is key. If the Division isn’t integrated then a new culture needs to be created. ALL the successful ones are built around CULTURE. Not a perceived culture, not a culture that cannot be achieved b/c of immovable obstacles. But a real culture that is built by a Leader that leads by example, stays until the work is done, rolls their sleeves up and understands everything about what they are building. A culture that thrives on respect and is driven by each and everyone’s successes in their own job functions. A culture that thrives on celebrating those success. Not simply by a social media post but by folks who genuinely want you to succeed and celebrate with you when you hit a milestone. Not just upper management folks, but your colleagues. From there you need to know how to put the rest of the pieces in place down to the smallest details like mapping product codes for reporting and Cap Markets purposes or writing job descriptions and forming hiring policies and procedures. That’s not the sexy stuff like signing up the big Beta clients or over furnishing the A+ space you just signed for, but it’s what your true successful leader should do and would do. Those are the parts that are most satisfying for me. Building something right and then watching your baby grow up to be a wonderful place to work.
