The PEMD (Power Electronics and Motor Drive) Group is a research group founded by Dr. Hang Gao at Washington State University, Vancouver, specializing in research on topologies, modulations, and controls of high power converters in renewable energy and motor drive applications.Under Dr. Gao’s guidance, I have modeled and tested a number of inverter topologies along with their respective control systems in MATLAB/Simulink; focusing primarily on finite-set model predictive control of three-phase, two-level voltage source inverters with LCL filtering, to act as grid-forming inverters.I\'ve also designed, tested, and assembled modular power electronics boards, such as gate drivers, MOSFET-based switching boards, and sampling boards designed to interface with MATLAB/Simulink testbeds, and used the above devices to perform hardware verification of theoretical inverter topologies and control architectures.
