About Gianfranco Digiuseppe
Dr. Gianfranco DiGiuseppe provides technical consulting in cell and stack engineering for PEM fuel cells and PEM electrolyzers. He is a problem solver, well versed at identifying, analyzing, and finding solutions to various technical issues. He uses various methods such as brainstorming, logical reasoning, experimentation, or research to arrive at effective solutions. He was a Fellow with Ohmium (Fremont, CA) where he led the design, development, and testing of PEM electrolyzer stacks. He was a senior fuel cell stack engineer with Robert Bosch (Farmington Hills, MI). Here he was involved in the design, modeling, and testing of fuel cell systems and electrolyzers. He is a retired Professor of Mechanical Engineering from Kettering University (Flint, MI). Here, he taught courses in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, energy systems, fuel cells, CFD/heat transfer modeling, and entrepreneurial engineering. He was a visiting research scholar at Nissan Technical Center (Farmington Hills, MI) where he researched, developed, fabricated, and tested solid oxide fuel cells for range extenders.Dr. DiGiuseppe was a principal engineer at Siemens Power Corporation (Pittsburgh, PA). There he was a principal engineer developing new solid oxide fuel cell geometries for enhanced electrical performance as well as the development of fabrication processes and the use of advanced materials pertinent to the new cell geometries. During these times, he was also an adjunct professor at Point Park University (Pittsburgh, PA) where he taught various undergraduate courses in mathematics and mechanical engineering. As a research assistant at the Illinois Institute of Technology (Chicago, IL) he was involved in the fabrication and characterization of planar thin-film solid oxide fuel cells. During his undergraduate studies, he was a research assistant at Argonne National Laboratory (Argonne, IL) where he conducted testing on materials exposed to radioactive elements.Dr. DiGiuseppe has extensive experience in solid oxide fuel cells and has several peer-reviewed journal publications in this field. He is a member of the Electrochemical Society and the American Society of Mechanical Engineering. He received the American Institute of Chemists Foundation 1994 Student Award and is the recipient of multiple Siemens awards. He was awarded the Kettering University Distinguished Researcher Award (2019), the Kettering University Researcher Award (2014), the Kettering University Outstanding Teaching Award (2010), and the Kettering University Young Researcher Award (2008).
