ABOUT GIANCARLO MERTZ
I am pursuing my Juris Doctor as a 3L at Albany Law School. Before law school, I obtained my undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Binghamton University\'s School of Management. At Albany Law School, I am the Executive Editor for Coordinating and Operation for Albany Law School\'s flagship journal Albany Law Review, an evidence teaching assistant, a New Student Orientation Leader, and an active competitor in Moot Court competitions. During 2L, I made it to the final round of the Domenick L. Gabrielli Appellate Advocacy Moot Court Competition for Albany Law and won the award for “Best Brief”. During 3L, I won the Karen C. McGovern Senior Prize Trials Competition. In addition to my academics, I have gained valuable experience in the legal field. During 1L and 2L, I worked as a law clerk in the Counsel\'s Office of the New York State Assembly, I worked closely with the Assembly Conference for multiple standing committees. This experience allows me to conduct in-depth legal research, help with bill drafting, and contribute to various hearings. During my second year at Albany Law School, I worked as an intern for the Hon. James E. Walsh of the Saratoga Supreme Court. This past summer I was a Summer Associate at Cohen Seglias Pallas Greenhall Furman PC in their New York City office. Outside of my legal pursuits, I am committed to positively impacting the community. Through my involvement as a project leader for a Stop Asian-American Hate Campaign, I initiated a start-up for social good, raising funds and awareness for the cause.
