About Giacomo Canesin

Highly accomplished Principal Scientist experienced in leading R&D activities from early discovery through initiation of FIH clinical studies. Solid scientific background in cancer biology and Immuno-Oncology, with a strong track record of leading the successful development of drug candidates across different modalities, including gene therapy products, CAR-Ts and ADCs. Expertise spans from lead candidate screening & identification to in vitro characterization and potency evaluation, in vivo pharmacology, pharmacodynamics and toxicology assessments, assay development/validation/qualification for translational data generation and early clinical evaluation. Results-driven and collaborative, intellectually and scientifically curious, dedicated to innovative, high-quality research, while fostering a positive and creative work environment. • Translational Medicine: Development and implementation of biomarker strategies for efficacy prediction, assessment of biological activity and identification of responsive populations; proven experience in assay development, validation and qualification for translational data generation; implementation of ddPCR, single cell RNAseq, TCR/BCR repertoire and flow-based assays for immune cells detection in patients’ blood and bone marrow; development of translational study plans for Phase I/II and Phase trials; processing and analysis of patients’ samples, data generation, interpretation and communication.• In vivo Biology: Use of immunodeficient and immunocompetent mouse strains, pharmacology & pharmacodynamic studies, use of PDX and CDX (sub-cutaneous, tail vein, intra-cardiac & intra-tibial injections), irradiation & bone marrow transplants, drug administration (intra-tumor, intra-peritoneal, gavage), in vivo bioimaging system (IVIS), animal necropsy and tissue isolation, bone marrow extraction & cell isolation, non-GLP and GLP toxicologic evaluation of drugs.• In Vitro Biology: Multi-color Flow Cytometry and cell sorting, tissue culture, ELISA & cell cycle assays, MSD & cytokine assays, cell viability & apoptosis assays, potency, persistence and sensitivity assays, immunofluorescence, DNA & RNA extraction, RT-qPCR and ddPCR, single cell RNAseq, luciferase reporter assays, protein extraction and analysis.Languages: Italian (native), English (fluent), Spanish (fluent), Swedish (conversational)- US & Italian CitizenCell & Gene Therapy Drug Development Immuno-Oncology Pharmacology Toxicology Tumor Biology Cancer Research Immunology In Vivo Translational Assay Development

Experience
