About Gerta Xhelo

Gerta Xhelo has dedicated her 15+ year career to developing meaningful stories across platforms, styles, and genres, giving artists around the world opportunity, exposure, and creative freedom in service of a larger message. Gerta is the current Director of Production at TED-Ed. Since joining in 2013, she has had the immense pleasure of co-curating and overseeing the visual and editorial production of 1,600 + animated short films which have reached over 5 billion people worldwide and have been featured in dozens of animation festivals, including Annecy, Animafest Zagreb, Anima Mundi, ASIFA, etc. She oversees production at Tomato Beach, a virtual design and animation studio in pursuit of projects and collaborations that aim to educate and bring about positive change.

   I supervise and oversee all of TED-Ed\'s production to ensure both curation and creative goals are met-Collaborate with authors, journalists, historians, and animations studios and artists to concept and adapt complex subjects into palatable narrative animated short films-Recruit and oversee directors, designers, animators, composers, writers, VO artists, and independent studios worldwide-Negotiate and review all contractual and budget details with animation studios and all other production partners-Manage and oversee TED-Ed\'s annual production budget-Identify and oversee strategic, digital opportunities, and develop innovative, integral proposals to secure partnerships-Represent TED-Ed by speaking at animation festivals and other industry events worldwide-Designed and implemented TED-Ed\'s production pipeline, supporting a library of 1500+ animated shorts, watched over 3 billion times worldwide-Designed and implemented TED-Ed\'s pipeline for distribution and dubbing.
