ABOUT GERRY RAFFERTY

From Seismic exploration and building schools to harvesting The Grapes of Raff “ A qualified Geophysicist and Educationalist who has taken a journey that certainly hasn’t been a neat, straight path. Sometimes it has circled back to familiar terrain, other times it has ventured onto narrow, uncharted ground with few steps to follow. My life\'s path has been guided and kick started by a passion for geophysics and gold exploration and then education, and leadership, and it is a privilege to share this journey with you. My roots trace back to the cathedral City of Armagh in Northern Ireland, where I was born and raised. There, I nurtured a deep curiosity for the Earth\'s geological treasures, eventually pursuing a Master\'s degree in Geophysics at Galway University. My early career led me to explore for oil and gold in concealed deposits,all over the world. The journey in education began 35 years ago when I transitioned into physics education within schools of west London. My Italian adventure commenced in 1992 when I arrived in Milan and embarked on a transformative journey with BSM, as Head of Science, assisting in leadership and development in the transition to build and develop their current campus/ curricula. This was followed. by my involvement with the St. Louis from 2001, leading campus development in Caviglia, Colonna, Pantano, and Archinto. Through the years, I helped specifically to create the middle schools, laying the foundation for the high school. In 2011, I took a significant step forward as I founded St. Louis High School with just 17 students. The beginning of a school culture. The beginning of a school community. It has been an exhilarating journey watching our school community grow and flourish over the years to a bustling institution with 60 staff and 500 students. Today, St. Louis High School stands as a testament to our collective dedication for quality education, innovation, and nurturing the potential within each student. Over this decade we boast the highest average score in Europe ( 37 points) averaged from 600 graduates already passing through our high school to the best Universities in the world. We also have built a unique institution that has excelled in sports, performing Arts and innovative technology. In 2024 I take on the new challenge of Senior Educational Advisor, in Alghero, Sardinia, whilst also dabbling in Sardinian wine production! As work globally within consultancy 2025 progresses the first bottles of “The grapes of Raff” are imminent.
