Established in January by Gerry Knowles, General Lamps has grown year on year to become one of the largest most dynamic distributors of light sources in the UK. It was formed as a distributor of specialist light sources serving a B2B customer base. With the advent of the internet Gerry Knowles adapted how his organisation went to market to take advantage of the opportunities that e commerce could present, and he now employs 15 staff that deal with over orders every month.General Lamps still supplies specialist and traditional light sources but now supplies a complete range of LED light sources and fixtures to accommodate every application. In 2012 General Lamps launched its own brand \"Swan Lamps\", a brand that now has over 100 different specialist incandescent, halogen and LED light sources available. General Lamps continue to work with their partner factories to find new innovative and energy saving light sources for the UK and Europe. Gerry has been a judge on the prestigious Lighting design Awards and sits on the Voltimum Lighting Experts Panel along with Philips, Osram, Megaman and Lux Magazine. Gerry also appears at the Industries Lux Live show each year on the \"ask the expert\" panel.General Lamps was accredited with an entry in the Who\'s Who book of Business Elite to recognise its continued growth and profitbaility over 16 years of successful business.In January 2018 Gerry Knowles was successful with his buy out proposal and has now taken sole ownership of General Lamps Ltd.
