ABOUT GERMANA LENTINI

In 2012 I started my experience in the laboratory of \"Fundamental and Applied Microbiology and Virology\" at the University of Messina. Here I received an intensive training in Phage display technology for the selection and identification of specific peptides that selectively bind prokaryotic or neoplastic cells. In 2018 I obtained my PhD in Medical and Surgical Biotechnologies under the supervision of Prof. Concetta Beninati (Metchnikoff Lab, University of Messina). I am currently a Postdoctoral researcher (RTDB) at the Metchnikoff Lab where I am focusing my attention on the study of the role of neutrophils in the activation and regulation of innate immunity. In 2023 I obtained the National Scientific Habilitation as Associate Professor (SDS Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology).Job-related skills: Methods of growing, handling and storage of bacteria and filamentous bacteriophages. Mammalian cell line storage, handling and mainteinance. siRNA gene silencing. Handling and manipulation of murine models. Isolation of immune cells from murine organs and humanperipheral blood. Screening and identification of specific and selective peptides through phage display technology. Flow cytometry, PCR and Real-Time PCR, gel electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, ELISA, labeling with fluorochromes, extraction and purification of nucleic acids, UV-Vis spectrophotometry, Raman and SERS spectroscopic techniques.Computer skills: Excellent knowledge of NCBI, BLAST, Clustal W2, Swiss-PdbViewer, PMP, RaptorX, PEP-FOLD, KEGG, MEGA5, Finch TV, Scion Image Software, Fiji and ImageJ platforms for biological-image analysis. Basic knowledge of MATLAB and Minitab Statistical Software. Good knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office™ tools.ORCID ID: Author ID: can contact me via email: g••••••••@unime.it
