Retired after 17 years at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, Feb. Currently decompressing and enjoying peace & quiet, reading, concerts, and travel. Will rejoin the family business Kelley/Associates after I recharge and can appreciate creative accomplishments again. About me. Marketing communications leader with more than 35 years of demonstrated results in the higher education and medical education fields. Believer in collaboration with an ability to champion others in achieving collective goals and accomplishing effective solutions. Comprehensive experience with strategic planning, media relations and crisis communication, and brand development and implementation. While at MSU, some of my key accomplishments included- Managed marketing communication initiatives for the nation’s largest medical school expansion, doubling the size from 400 students to 800 students from Led communications and media relations campaigns – from construction to grand-openings – for the college’s new headquarters in Grand Rapids, the Secchia Center, in 2010; the Flint Community Campus in downtown Flint in 2014; the MSU Grand Rapids Research Center in 2017 and ongoing media relations for MSU\'s P3 collaboration with Grand Rapids Innovation Park-College crisis communication experience, including the Flint Water Crisis, 2016; the Larry Nassar crisis, 20••••20; pandemic communication, 20••••22; and the Michigan State University mass shooting incident of 2023. Other roles include college spokesperson, research marketing and PR support, and communication support for the community based medical school’s eight statewide campuses and collaborative initiatives with hospital, institution, and research partners. A mighty Spartan graduate of the Michigan State University College of Communication Arts and Sciences with a Master of Management degree from Aquinas College, Grand Rapids. Prior to MSU, PR counsel for health care and higher education clients. Since 2011 served in various capacities for the Association of American Medical Colleges Group on Institutional Advancement, including chair of the public affairs and communications group, public affairs and communications representative, and various committees. In addition, represents Michigan State University as a member of the communications working group for the Big Ten Cancer Research Consortium.
