ABOUT GERARDO BLANCO

I’m an award-winning (CIES 2014, 2017, 2020; ASHE 2023) researcher focused on the comparative study of quality in higher education, with a decade of experience as a faculty member. ‍I try to make the world more just through inclusion of cultures and identities through dialogue and respect. My identities as an LGBTQIA+ bilingual (EN+ES) person of color with Mexican and U.S. citizenships inform everything I do. ‍ For as long as I have been eligible (tenured), I have been an academic leader, first coordinating a master’s in higher education and student affairs, and since 2020 as the academic director of the Center for International Higher Education I’m a frequent speaker at academic and professional events, discussing internationalization trends, geopolitics in higher education, accreditation, rankings and branding. In 2023 I became a LinkedIn Top Higher Education Voice I’m a Fulbright specialist, an advisor at the American Council on Education and serve on the advisory board of the Inter-American Organization of Higher Education
