ABOUT GERARD GRATTAN

I’m continuously improving how to put people and the planet first when utilising my business transformation and change skills to add value to you. Here\'s a little background on me… During my early years I thought the small town I grew up in was the centre of the universe, nothing mattered if it did not happen within the circle of friends from that town. As the youngest child within a large family I was surrounded by an army of support. Not being able to get a word in edge ways contributed to me being an observer, a listener and a thinker. Traits that helped shape the work I do. I left school without a plan and did not know what to do at university, so began working in local factories and offices. Anyone else remember being paid £50/week and having enough money to last the weekend? In I landed a job in Glasgow which turned into an 18 year career. Those early days provided many short assignments in different cities and laid the foundation of me becoming a problem solver. It was common to hear “Gerry do you have a minute to help me solve this?” During this time I met an amazing woman at an office coffee machine. Lynne has a love of travel and opened my eyes to global opportunities. In 2008 our life paths merged when we moved to Italy, got married, then onto Malaysia, Canada and Borneo within a decade. Truly magical times filled with amazing experiences and people. However I began to notice my lifestyle and work was a problem for the planet. Seeing first-hand the negative impact on people and nature due to human activity, including my own, was a sobering moment. And so began my mid-career crisis. What was the purpose of all my efforts? In 2017 I quit my stable career to reshape my purpose. I then completed an OnPurpose program alongside 20 amazing individuals whom I can never thank enough. I now find myself with a portfolio of interests geared towards making a positive impact:• Co-founded Extincts CIC which is on a mission to mobilise the next generation of animal protectors • Co-founded Impactara Ltd which brings Lean, Agile and Digital problem solving to SMEs, SEs and Charities • Trustee of a local charity and business mentor to sports clubsI still feel like a hypocrite as I love to travel, Italy being my favourite place, and my favourite global sport is Formula1, both not great for the environment. As you can see, I’m still figuring out how I can put people and the planet first. Let’s connect and share ways to make a positive impact…
