ABOUT GERARD CLARKE
I am an experienced dispute resolution lawyer and advocate with wide ranging experience in commercial disputes, competition law, and in regulatory and public law, with a focus on anti-corruption and anti-kleptocracy work. I have practised in the UK, the BVI, and the Cayman Islands. I have also worked on major dispute resolution projects in Hong Kong, the Channel Islands, Bermuda, and Dubai. I divide my time between my work as a barrister at 4-5 Gray\'s Inn and my work as Consultant Senior Counsel at Bivonas Law LLP in the City of London. I am experienced in onshore and offshore commercial litigation, arbitration, and mediation, including fraud and asset recovery claims, trust disputes, and corporate insolvency, and I am also experienced in judicial review, regulatory disputes, and sport and media law. I have extensive experience of interlocutory, trial, and appellate advocacy in the UK, and in the BVI and Cayman. Recent cases include acting for Malaysia in the pursuit of billions stolen by corrupt politicians and financiers, and I am currently working on another large anti-corruption project for a developing country, and on a substantial cross border competition law claim. I have a record of pro bono work with NGOs, charities, and individuals. I am also an experienced speaker at professional conferences, and have taught law to undergraduates. When posting here, I write on my own behalf, and not on behalf of my Chambers, or Bivonas Law LLP, or any other organisation, unless I state to the contrary, or the contrary is obvious from the nature and context of the post (for example, a post promoting a seminar to be hosted by my Chambers or some such thing).
