He is a graduate of the FBI Citizens Academy. Gerald retired from the Conroe Independent School District Board of Trustees, after serving 22 years in his elected, volunteer position. He served as Board President and Secretary. He has written a book titled,\"When Preparation Meets Opportunity.\" Specialties: He oversaw CISD annual budget of $340 million, enrollment of over students and over employees. He was instrumental in naming the Colin L. Powell Elementary School and orchestrated General Powell’s unprecedented appearance at the dedication ceremony in The Woodlands. September 20, 2011, the CISD School Board named a new school the “Gerald D. Irons, Sr. Junior High School. CISD was named an Exemplary School District by the Texas Education Agency.
