ABOUT GEORG SCHNEIDER

Georg Schneider is a PhD candidate at the Hertie School’s Centre for International Security. His dissertation examines how states at critical junctures formulate long-term grand strategic choices, using Germany in the 1990s as a case study. His research analyzes how leaders, interest groups, and external influences shaped grand strategic (re-)orientation in this decade — and how decisions made then continue to inform German foreign and security policy today. Georg studied at the University of Groningen, Hertie School in Berlin, and at Johns Hopkins SAIS in Washington, D.C. He has worked at SWP on the European security order, in the Bundestag, at Johnson & Johnson, and Bertelsmann Stiftung. He is a Fellow of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
