ABOUT GEORGINA COX
I work as an independent consultant within local government and the wider public sector, exploring and testing how relational public services can both improve outcomes for communities as well as deliver on meeting the financial pressures the sector continues to feel.Having spent my whole career within consulting organisations, with the past 10 years as a practice and team leader, I enjoy work most when it brings together my experience of strategic leadership and influence, with hands on delivery. I have the privilege to work alongside councils and their local partners who believe traditional transformation / operating model / strategy programmes won’t cut it anymore, and are looking to make a more fundamental shift in how public services, including the evolving identity and purpose of the council, are designed and delivered locally in, with and for communities.Previously a Director at PwC and more recently a Partner at PA Consulting responsible for the local government transformation practice, I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to be part of and to lead diverse, multidisciplinary and innovative teams. My work has always centred around improving resident and staff experiences and outcomes, effectively designing and architecting the right systems, organisations and enabling environments for relationships and better outcomes to flourish. I’ve been involved in local government reorganisation, building the case to reform and not just reorganise, and also worked across the wider system including with health partners on the place and neighbourhood agenda.By listening and effectively challenging norms and behaviours, I partner with clients to articulate, communicate and manage the change, help people embrace new and better ways of working and maximise benefits from better use of all of the resources we have around us, whether that is technology and data, physical assets or the social infrastructure within our communities and neighbourhoods. From my 20+ year career I am also able to draw on my deep experience across procurement, sourcing and complex transactions, audit and accountancy, business cases, programme management, coaching and mentoring. At PA I led our Local Government transformation team, was a member of the Global Inclusion and Diversity Committee, Partner sponsor for the Public Service Operating Model community, and Partner sponsor of the Business Analysis and Process Improvement learning community.
