With like-minded colleagues, Dr. George Thompson is creating a world based on respect, trust, understanding, and compassion, where people are inspired and empowered to work together to create what\'s most important without resorting to fear, shame, or force. Healing at the speed of excellence!In 2023, George and colleagues launched a youth psychiatric urgent care clinic at ReDiscover. Open 365 days a year, it serves children and adolescents in the greater Kansas City area, providing assessment and treatment during the initial visit and filling the gap between waiting months for an appointment or visiting a hospital ER. With Edwina Grant and Kim Golding, he is author of Working with Relational Trauma in Children\'s Residential Care: A Guide to Using Dyadic Developmental Practice. With Marilyn Sanders, he authored Polyvagal Theory and the Developing Child, part of W.W. Norton\'s Interpersonal Neurobiology Series. As Chief Medical Officer at KidsTLC, Inc, George directed a multiyear organizational transformation and culture change process resulting in recognition as a Certified DDP Organization by the Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Institute in May 2019. Dan Hughes, PhD, founder of DDP said:\"KidsTLC has been overwhelmingly successful in their efforts. As a result, KidsTLC has truly become a therapeutic community that has positively impacted the safety, development, and relationships of both the children and adolescents and their families who are receiving the therapeutic services as well as the staff themselves. It is certain to become a model of best practice for all residential treatment programs that daily face the complex challenges of assisting young people to heal and eventually thrive after they have experienced relational trauma that has left them full of shame and unable to trust.\"In Sept 2019, George chaired the International DDP Conference, with a theme of \"The Power of Deep Listening to Heal, Connect and Transform.\" As an instructor of the worldwide Avatar course, George teaches tools for personal and societal transformation.
