ABOUT GEORGE SHAKER
Dr George Shaker has devoted his career to turning advanced wireless-sensing ideas into practical tools for safer, healthier, and more connected communities. As an adjunct professor, he directs the Wireless Sensors & Devices Laboratory at the University of Waterloo–Schlegel Research Institute for Aging, where he founded THE MIRADA—Technology for Health Empowerment: Monitoring, Intervention & Response for Aging Demonstration Apartment, a living-lab that integrates radar, AI, and smart-home platforms to support older adults. He has also served as the Chief Scientist of Spark Technology Labs since its founding in 2011.Dr Shaker completed an NSERC-funded research visit to Georgia Tech. After several engineering roles at Research In Motion (BlackBerry), he has led multidisciplinary research teams supported by over forty organisations.
