ABOUT GEORGE HOLLER

What’s the point? Truthfully, there is none. It does me no good to amass a stack of money. No one will know that I even existed years from now, and most likely not even family will know about me in 100 years. In the big picture, life is meaningless, but in the little picture, it is precious. What do I do today? How do I treat those people I encounter? Am I kind, compassionate, understanding, and tolerant? If I am, I can make a huge difference for those people. It doesn’t take a lot to change someone’s life. A word of encouragement, an attentive, listening ear, or maybe a hand when they don’t even know they need it. These are the things that matter.So, how do I translate this into my professional life? First, do the right thing, even if it goes against my own interests. I’ve tried to put myself first, and karma is a bitch! Next, do something that feels right. I’ve been asked many times to do foreclosure work. Hell no. I know that borrowers have agreed to allow foreclosure if they don’t pay their mortgages, and I know someone has to do that work for lenders, but it doesn’t have to be me. Third, treat everyone with respect, even when they don’t reciprocate. We’ve all been rude to others, sometimes because we think they deserve it, other times when we just don’t realize it, but mostly because we’re in a bad spot ourselves. Try to put yourself in their shoes and remember we’re all going to mess up. Respect shows that you understand what it’s like to be a human being. Finally, do the job like it really matters. If you’ve chosen the right industry and the right company, you’re halfway there. Now just bear down and give your best effort. It’s not for the big stack of money at the end; it’s because the little picture matters—if I do good work, someone else is better off, and they need that. So do I.
