Employed as the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Director (Executive Board Member). Business has a turnover of circa £90 million, employs 450 people not including sub-contractors and a team of 5 Health & Safety Advisors, a Quality Manager. The role has a clear focus on pro-active safety and behaviour management focusing on the removal of risk through Safe by Design, Training, Employee Consultation, Engagement and through the use of Innovation/Technology. Responsibilities:• Create, review and update of the Business Management Systems• Create Health & Safety Dashboards including collation of data (leading and lagging) from numerous sources• Create the Business Health & Safety Improvement Strategy• Audit Sub-Contractors, Suppliers and Temporary Works Designers• Create and communicate Health & Safety matters• Lead Accident Investigation team into Major Incidents/Accidents• Liaise with the external stakeholders such as the HSE and clients• Review documentation such as Construction Phase Plans (CPP)• Management of the H&S, Quality, Technical and ICT Team• Implement and lead the new H&S initiatives from business case through to implementation• Complete business improvement plan actionsKey Achievements:• ROSPA Gold Award winners for 2017, 2018 and 2019• Implemented a management system that combined ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and BS OHSAS 18001 resulting in a simplified and unified Management System.• Creation of the first South West Groundworkers Health & Safety Forum (to share learning events, innovation, industry best practice)• Requested by the HSE to assist in the re-writing of the Articulated Dumper Guidance when working in Construction Environments specifically focused on stockpiles and over-turning.• Assisted 4 of my team in achieving Chartered Status with IOSH.• Implementation of Safety Shield in Excavators through the supply chain resulting in a reduction of Exclusion Zone incidents when working with heavy machinery.
