ABOUT GEORGE FORESMAN

Over the past 30 years, which have involved leading organizations through some of the highest-profile crises to face the US, I have become known for my ability to calm chaos, build coalitions, and inspire action – regardless of the situation. Though also a risk and security thought leader, I’ve found that this experience enhances, rather than defines, how I develop and execute strategies. While it’s vital to prepare for every imaginable contingency, the reality is that it’s just not possible to predict everything. Having built, led, operated and worked with organizations within the private, nonprofit, government, and the academic sectors, I use the intuition honed during my career to quickly decide on the best course of action. I also reassure during emergencies, often speaking to the public through the media. Frequently sought out to impart this knowledge, I currently mentor executives on developing strategies, leading, and implementing operational plans. As a senior advisor on national security at UVA, I provide insight on policy, operations, and technology. SNAPSHOT Recruited by US President to serve as First Undersecretary for Preparedness for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Rapidly transformed organization, driving strategic plan which saved millions of dollars, minimized risks, and improved workforce performance. Asked to serve as strategic advisor for boards in industries as varied as healthcare, real estate, and technology; appointed to leadership roles by both Democratic and Republican politicians. Quickly progressed from staff roles to complex leadership/executive positions, including jobs as COO and CEO. Graduate of the Virginia Executive Institute and Virginia Military Institute.
