ABOUT GEORGE PHILLIPS

With a decade of development experience, I am a skilled and passionate Lead Full Stack Engineer who can design, develop, and deploy scalable & distributed web applications using JS/TS, Rust, Java, or Python.I am eager to learn new skills and technologies, and I value collaboration, feedback, and continuous improvement. My goal is to use my expertise to create innovative and impactful solutions that can solve real-world problems and generally improve a persons experience.Originally from the UK, I lived in Cape Town, SA for ~15 years. I have a passion for all things digital, starting with building my Ultimate Real Robot, that led to some early mistakes, i.e. me dismantling my RAD (1.0) when I got it, getting an Ubuntu CD when I was around 12/13, unfortunately for my family I hadn\'t learnt what \'Format Disk\' meant. I maintained my own ArchLinux Distro for a while, but I ended up taking down the university network for a weekend by accident, and having the PC I built confiscated, that was not so fun. I did learn quite a bit about DNS resolution. Jokes aside, those early learning experiences were formative in helping me develop my understanding, coupled with a special awareness for risk management, deployment strategies, and contingency planning. Which I believe has helped me consistently deliver as senior and lead developer across a broad scope of technologies, in a variety of industries, including finance and banking.
