About George Parampathu
After graduating from UC Berkeley Law in 2023, I began my state policy career as a Legal Advocate with the California Labor Federation, representing the interests of over 2 million union workers in California. In June of 2024, I joined ACLU California Action as a Legislative Attorney focused on police reform and criminal justice issues.

Track and provide legal review for ~150 bills a year to determine the appropriate bill position.• Draft and submit position letters on ~80 bills a year as well as be present at appropriate committee hearings to provide \"me too\" testimony.• Meet with committee consultants, lobby Members and their staff, and provide substantive testimony incommittee on ~20 bills a year.• Lead several priority support and opposition campaigns each year. Most recently, I was the main lobbyist behind AB 1388 (Bryan, 2025) and AB 847 (Sharp-Collins, 2025).• Create and implement comprehensive legislative campaign plans, including assisting with communications and constituent outreach strategies.• Collaborate with legislative staff and committee consultants to amend concerning provisions out of bills.• Work with relevant coalitions to amplify ACLU’s impact and to stay abreast of relevant legislative happenings.• Consult internal issue experts to ensure our public positions align with organizational priorities and historical positions.• Advocate through written and oral comments in administrative proceedings.• Engage reporters to ensure that public narratives about legislative priorities are fully informed.
